General English
As a student at Southsea House of English you will benefit from total immersion in the English language throughout the duration of your stay. Aside from class based lessons, you will have the opportunity to practice your English as often as you wish as you will be part of English family life so will benefit from authentic and relevant language as well as cultural interaction.
General English lessons are available all year round to students of all ages.
The duration of these courses is tailored to suit your individual needs.
You will receive 15 hours per week of classroom based teaching (including breaks), tailored to your requirements and using a variety of teaching methods to ensure that lessons are engaging, flexible and relaxed. Together we will decide what your needs are and work out a suitable programme of lessons to develop your learning. You will also receive homework that will reinforce what you have learned during classroom lessons.
Lessons will help you to:
- Develop your skill and language levels using up-to-date and relevant materials that incorporate the four core linguistic skill areas (speaking, listening, reading and writing).
- Improve your grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation with useful techniques in order to help you improve your overall language ability.
- Practise your spoken English and improve your accuracy.
- Aside from grammar and pronunciation lessons, you will be able to practise your English whenever you want as you will be totally immersed in the English language and will form part of our daily family life.
Classroom lessons take place on weekday mornings, leaving the afternoon to explore the local area and should you wish, take part in English family life. At weekends, we will visit popular attractions which in the past have included trips to London, Brighton, Arundel, Oxford, Bournemouth, the New Forest and many of the local attractions within our beautiful city.

All our courses are priced at £980 per person per week, although discounts are available for stays of more than six weeks. The duration of all our courses depends on the individual requirements of each student and can be tailored to suit your needs and availability.
